Ballsgrove, Drogheda, yesterday morning.

Mr Johnson was married and had four children. He was a passenger in the car which crashed into a truck just before 11 p.m. on Monday.

The driver of the car was Mr Johnson's first cousin, Anthony O'Brien. He was also married and had five children.

The Mass began with the playing of the Garth Brooks song, If tomorrow never comes.

Mr Thomas Wilson and the older children of the dead men brought gifts to the altar.

Close friends and family members read the prayers of the faithful.

The Vauxhall Astra was carrying the three men and two 16year-old girls when it hit the truck.

The truck driver was Mr John Myres, Castletown, Dundalk. His funeral Mass took place in Bridachrinn Church, Dundalk, yesterday afternoon and was attended by about 500 mourners.

Father Martin Kenny, who had officiated at Mr Myres's wedding in 1993, told the congregation: "John was a light that shone far and wide. His motto was, `If you cannot do a good turn for anyone, then do not do any turn at all'."

Father Kenny also spoke about everyone having the right to express God's free will, "but unfortunately some people abuse this gift of God's generosity, and often times with tragic consequences".

The men, who had been friends since national school, were all buried in

Calvary Cemetery, Drogheda.

The funeral Mass of Sarah Jane McKenna (16) and Brenda O'Rourke (16), who were passengers in the car, takes place this morning in Drogheda.
