In Co Waterford, a 35-year-old male motorcyclist was killed at Monvoy, Tramore yesterday. The incident happened at about 3.30pm and there was no other vehicle involved in the incident.

In Cork city, a 25-year-old woman was fatally injured when the car she was driving was in collision with a car just before 1am yesterday at Commons Road. A male passenger in her car, as well as the driver of the second car, were taken to Cork University Hospital. Both were treated for minor injuries. Gardaí at Watercourse Road have appealed for witnesses to contact them at 021-4558260.

In Limerick a second man has died after a car crashed into a parked lorry on the N21 at Clogh near Rathkeale on Friday morning. The incident happened at about 2.30am. The man, the driver of the car, died on Saturday evening in Limerick Regional Hospital. He was Adam Zajac, a 31-year-old Polish national, who had been living in Castletroy.

The other man who died in the crash was also Polish living in the Castletroy area of the city.  He was named as 30-year-old Tomasz Stelmaszczuk and was the front seat passenger in the car.

Also in Limerick, a 20-year-old man was killed when the van he was driving was in collision with a sports utility vehicle (SUV) at Ballingarry on Friday night.

The incident happened at about 9.45pm. His body was removed to the Midwestern Regional Hospital in Limerick. The female driver of the SUV was slightly injured.

Separately gardaí in Dublin are seeking witnesses to an incident which happened at about 2pm on Saturday on the southern end of the M50. A lorry, travelling south, crashed into a footbridge, locally known as the “Newvale footbridge”, which spans a section of the M50 motorway.

Damage was caused to the footbridge and part of it fell onto the road below, narrowly missing cars. The lorry failed to stop.

This section of road is where the N11 merges with the southern end of the M50 to become the M11. Any driver who witnessed this incident is asked to contact the gardaí at Shankill Garda station on 01-6665900.
