Cairo - Four people, including a 14-year-old boy, were shot dead by police yesterday in clashes between voters and security forces in a village north of Cairo on the final day of parliamentary elections, hospital sources said.

The deaths brought the number of people killed in a month of legislative elections to at least 14, compared with around 60 during the previous elections in 1995.

Apart from the four killed in clashes in al-Amar village, about 20 km north of Cairo, another five were seriously wounded and taken to a nearby hospital, hospital sources said.
