Meanwhile, a 35-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to his left leg in Lisburn on Monday night.

In north Belfast a 40-yearold man received a gunshot wound to the left leg off the Ballysillan Road on Monday morning, while a 17-year-old was shot in the leg at around 8 p.m. in Monkstown, also in the north of the city.

Meanwhile, a 16-year-old Belfast youth was badly beaten by two masked men in a paramilitary style punishment attack last night. The men struck him about the arms with iron bars. He was found at Westrock Drive, Belfast, shortly before 10 p.m.

In Portadown, rioters set fire to a barricade on Corcraine Road last night, blocking the street to traffic. The RUC reported sporadic stone-throwing around the town.

Also in Portadown, the RUC yesterday uncovered a store of petrol-bombs in the Edgarstown estate containing 15 primed bombs and 40 bottles containing flammable liquid.
