Four youths charged with manslaughter of teenager

Four men were today charged with the manslaughter of teenager Brian Murphy.

Mr Murphy (18) from Clonskeagh, Dublin, died after an incident outside Club Anabel in the Burlington Hotel in Dublin on August 31st last.

Mr Desmond Ryan (20) of Cunningham Road, Dalkey; Mr Andrew Frame (20) from Nutley Lane, Donnybrook; Mr Seán Mackey from South Park, Foxrock; and Mr Dermot Laide from Castleblaney, Co Monaghan, appeared before Dublin District Court this morning.

All replied either "no" or "not guilty" when charged.

The four were remanded in custody with consent to bail - each on their own bond of £300 with an independent surety of £3,000 in three of the cases and £1,000 for one.

Gardaí did not object to a bail application on condition the accused do not leave the State, report to the Garda if they intend to change address and do not interfere with witnesses.

The four were arrested this morning and held in Donnybrook Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

They are due to appear again at Dublin District Court on May 24th.
