A man has appeared in court today charged  in connection with the discovery of more than €100 million of cocaine in Cork last week.

Perry Wharrie (47) of Pyrles Lane, Loughton, Essex, England, was arrested at Gubbeen near Schull last Wednesday.

Dunmanway District Court heard he was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of cocaine with intent to supply at Dunlough Bay, Mizen, Goleen on July 2 nd. He was remanded in custody to appear before Clonakilty District Court on July 17th.

also appeared at Dunmanway District Court today. He was remanded in custody to appear in court again on July 17th.

Two other English men were remanded in custody yesterday after appearing in Skibbereen District Court charged in connection with the seizure.

Martin Wanden, (44) of no fixed address and also known as Anthony Claude Linden of Swanley, Kent and Joe Daly (40) of Carrisbrooke Avenue, Bexley, Kent were brought before the court amid tight security.

Mr Daly was arrested at Gubbeen near Schull last Wednesday. Mr Wanden was arrested last Thursday when he was discharged from Bantry General Hospital where he had spent four days receiving treatment after being rescued from the sea.

Both men were charged with possessing cocaine and possessing cocaine for sale or supply at Dunlough Bay, Mizen, Goleen on July 2 nd. The court heard neither man made any response when charged by gardaí.

Judge James McNulty noted that there was no application for bail and he remanded both men in custody at Cork Prison to appear again at Clonakilty District Court on July 17th.
