Fringe show wins award of €4,000

A piece by Irish theatre company Gentle Giant won the principal prize at the Dublin Fringe Festival Awards yesterday.

A piece by Irish theatre company Gentle Giant won the principal prize at the Dublin Fringe Festival Awards yesterday.

At a ceremony in the Spiegeltent in Dublin, Danny and Chantelle (Still Here) won the Spirit of the Fringe Commissioning Award. The €4,000 prize money goes towards a new production from the company, to be presented at the Project Cube as part of next year's fringe.

The Jayne Snow Award, presented to the individual or group that "best exhibits the qualities of innovation, bravery and risk-taking in the pursuit of excellence", was awarded to Making Strange Theatre Company for Revisions.

The prize for Best Production was taken by Banana Bag & Bodice for The Sewers, while Brokentalkers Theatre Company was honoured for On This One Night, winner of the Sexiest Production Award.
