FORMER TAOISEACH Bertie Ahern flew early yesterday to Belfast from Moscow, where he had attended the Uefa Champions League final.
Asked by reporters at the Mitchell Conference how he had made it to the event in Northern Ireland, Mr Ahern replied: “From Moscow to Belfast and chartered with friends to London; it wasn’t easy, I can tell you.” The match finished in Moscow at 1.35am local time – three hours ahead of Irish time.
Mr Ahern’s team, Manchester United, won 6-5 in a penalty shoot-out.
