Among the worst areas affected was Dublin Port where no trucks were available to shipping companies and business was stopped for the day. By early afternoon convoys of lorries began to leave the Red Cow roundabout and head back to country destinations. By 3.30 p.m. those heading to Monaghan, Cavan and Dundalk were moving out. A convoy of about 70 lorries heading to the west and south left shortly afterwards, causing late evening delays.
