A fund has been set up to help the two young children who suffered serious burns when a car was set on fire in Limerick last week.
Six-year-old Millie Murray and her four-year-old brother, Gavin, from Moyross, are still in hospital in Dublin.
The children's uncle, Leo McNamara, appealed for donations to help the family.
Speaking on RTÉ's Morning Ireland, he said there had been an outpouring of goodwill from the public.
"Money has been coming in from everywhere. People immediately began to start sending money to the family.
"We just thought it would have to be more structured; that there would have to be an account there in the long term because the kids are going to need help for a very long time, not just over the course of the next couple of months," he said.
Mr McNamara said Millie is now able to talk, but can only eat yogurt or ice-cream. "She is still being tube-fed," he said.
Gavin, who is still in intensive care, is "coming on great", the children's uncle said. "He hasn't opened his eyes because he is still quite heavily sedated."
