Funding is being provided under the Budget for the establishment of a new information service for immigrants.
Costing €150,000 in 2002, the Integrated Information Service will provide advice in areas of policy, services, rights, responsibilities and entitlements. New identification measures for asylum seekers are also being introduced at a cost of €1 million next year.
Other allocations to the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform include €100,000 for the establishment of a national network of Neighbourhood Watch schemes, and €70,000 to help set up a Victim Support missing persons helpline.
Some €100,000 has also been allocated to assist a series of initiatives in the areas of child begging, youth crime and delinquency.
