Funeral of Jean Corr tomorrow

The funeral of Mrs Jean Corr, mother of the pop group The Corrs, will take place in her native Dundalk tomorrow

The funeral of Mrs Jean Corr, mother of the pop group The Corrs, will take place in her native Dundalk tomorrow. Mrs Corr (57) died in hospital in England on Wednesday following a short illness.

There will be a private funeral for family and close friends in the Church of the Redeemer, Ard Easmuinn, at 2 p.m.

Mrs Corr and her husband, Gerry, had sung in the choir and had been instrumental in establishing a children's choir in the church in the 1970s. At the same time they played the local cabaret circuit as a duo, Sound Affair.

A spokesman for The Corrs' management has appealed to fans to respect the family's wishes and allow them "time and space to grieve in private. This is obviously a very difficult time for Gerry, Andrea, Caroline, Sharon and Jim."
