Members of the 12th Battalion based at Sarsfield Barracks in Limerick provided a guard of honour yesterday at the funeral Mass of former colleague Stephen O'Grady who was killed following an incident at his home last week.

The 46-year-old father of six served in the Army for 21 years and was promoted to the rank of Army Corporal in 1998.

He was stabbed to death at his home on Lenihan Avenue in Prospect last Thursday morning following what gardaí described as a domestic incident.

Fr Donough O'Malley paid tribute to Mr O'Grady's work in the Army and the eight tours of duty he completed in the Lebanon.
