The funeral has taken place in Co Monaghan of murdered nun, Sister Philomena Lyons.
Sister Philomena was murdered and sexually assaulted in the grounds of the convent where she lived for over 40 years.
Originally from Mallow in County Cork, Sister Philomena was a member of the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart order.
The funeral took place in Ballybay at midday and was attended by over 500 people, including Chief Assistant Commissioner of the Gardaí Kevin Carty, the Superior General of the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Sister Mary Regnaldi, and the Provisional of the Order Sister Bridget Brown.
President Mary McAleese and the Taoiseach Mr Ahern were represented by their aide de camps.
Requiem mass was celebrated by the Bishop of Clogher, Dr Joseph Duffy, and Monsignor Gerard McFoley.
Dr Duffy said Sister Philomena's death had stunned the nation.
"More and more concerns are expressed these days about the increased violence and coarseness in Irish life, about the decline of basic discipline and respect at every level," he said.
It is thought Sister Philomena set off from St Joseph's convent in Ballybay on Saturday to catch a bus to Dublin, where she was to attend a party at her order's convent in Blackrock.
She was to travel to Mallow, Co Cork yesterday where she was to spend Christmas with some cousins and an elderly aunt.
The alarm was raised when she failed to arrive at her destination. A search was carried out and her body was found later that night.
