The Minister for Enterprise and Employment, Mr Bruton, has announced a "more comprehensive" review of the trade marks section of the Patents Office.
An independent management specialist is to be involved to ensure that no organisational issues were impeding the work of the office, Mr Bruton said.
He would also establish a users council to aid a better delivery of the industrial property services of the office.
