Future of `In Dublin' editor is in doubt

Doubt surrounded the future of Alannah Gallagher as editor of In Dublin/Dublin last night

Doubt surrounded the future of Alannah Gallagher as editor of In Dublin/Dublin last night. Ms Gallagher said yesterday afternoon that she had handed her resignation to Hoson Publishing. However, her publishers' PR company said last night she would remain editor for the weekend at least.

Ms Gallagher has been editor of In Dublin since July 13th of last year. The magazine was banned for six months by the Censorship of Publications Board on Wednesday because a number of its editions "have usually or frequently been indecent or obscene". It is thought the magazine's advertisements for "health studios" were the cause of the ban.

Earlier, Ms Gallagher said her decision to resign was not caused by the current troubles but they "speeded up a decision I was making anyway".

"I've been here for over a year now and have got the magazine to where I wanted it," she said yesterday. "I'm very proud of the product and I just feel it's time to move on. I have been juggling a lot of balls for a while now."
