GAA:The GAA has addressed the issue of falling attendances around the country by reducing ticket prices for the rest of the football and hurling championships.
Tickets for all the remaining matches in GAA central competitions, including the All-Ireland quarter-finals and semi-finals along with the qualifiers will be reduced by €5. However, this will be offset by an increase in the price of tickets for both All-Ireland finals.
With the country in the grip of a recession, crowds have been poor so far this summer and GAA president Christy Cooney is hopeful of attracting more fans through the turnstiles.
“The GAA recognises the need to encourage patrons to attend our games and this price cut signals our intent to ensure our supporters continue to engage with and follow our championship games.” Cooney said today.
Stand tickets for the first two rounds of the qualifiers will now be priced at €15, with the remaining rounds marketed at €20. All-Ireland quarter-final seats will cost €30 with tickets for the semi-finals being sold at €40.
Stand tickets for the All-Ireland football and hurling finals at Croke Park in September will increase in price from €70 to €80.
