The Games Administration Committee (GAC) of the GAA today docked Kildare the point they earned in the National Football League draw with Sligo.

The GAC concluded their investigation into the game of February 10th, where Kildare were found to have used six substitutes - one more than is permitted under GAA rules.

Kildare representatives met with the GAC last night and were informed of the decision today. Sligo have been awarded the two points.

The Division 1B clash ended 0-12 to 0-12 but a subsequent review into the game found that Kildare had fielded a sixth substitute in the 65th minute.

Kildare are now joint third from bottom of Division 1B and must win their two remaining league fixtures to be assured of Division 1 status next year.

Sligo, on the other hand, continue with their impressive push for league honours. Peter Ford’s side remain in second spot in the division but, with the awarding of the extra point, close the gap on reigning champions Mayo to two points.
