The GAC are to investigate the serious hand injury received by Clare’s Gerry Quinn during last Sunday’s All-Ireland hurling semi-final with Waterford.
Quinn sustained a compound fracture of his hand in the incident, a blow that is likely to keep the 20-year-old left wing back out of next month’s final.
The incident went unpunished by the match referee, which, under GAA guidelines, clears the way for the GAC to intervene and handle any disciplinary matters that may arise.
RTÉ footage of the match appears to have missed the incident, which occurred late in the game, but the GAC may choose to review the tapes and could seek verbal submissions from those involved or witnesses.
