More than 20,000 music fans are expected to attend the MTV European Music Awards and concerts taking place around the event in Belfast tonight.
The awards will be held at the Odyssey Arena and broadcast to a worldwide audience of up to 600 million people.
Among the big names at the Odyssey will be Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Coldplay, while outside Belfast City Hall local favourites Snow Patrol will entertain a huge crowd.
Not too far away, the Ulster Hall will be thumping to the sound of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Lady Gaga seems poised for a productive night and has the highest number of nominations for awards, at six. Mars and Katy Perry have four each.
Adele will be hoping to make up for the disappointment of losing out on the Mercury Prize after being nominated for the best female award and best video and best song for her hit Rolling In The Deep.
The singer, who lost out to PJ Harvey for the Mercury, also gets a nod for the best UK and Ireland act.
The awards have a massive worldwide audience.
Writing on his blog, the Lord Mayor of Belfast councillor Niall O Donnghaile said the city was “in full party mode”.
He said: “This is our chance to shine with footage being beamed to an audience of 600 million across the world.
What an amazing opportunity for us to put our wee part of the world under a global spotlight.”
The awards, which were set up in 1994, have previously featured performances by stars including U2, Take That, Beyonce and Jay-Z.
