The National Gallery of Ireland will close from February 5th for three months to complete its £9 million refurbishment programme. When the gallery on Merrion Square in Dublin, re opens in mid May up to 700 paintings will be on view including many which have not been displayed for years.
The gallery's director, Mr Raymond Keaveney, said the closure is essential for the final phase of the refurbishment which includes alterations to the entrance foyer and the installation of an all glass hydraulic lift.
