Galway 0-12 Kilkenny 1-20: If John McIntyre required any reminder of the challenge facing his Galway side in this year's Leinster championships, a depleted Kilkenny provided it at Pearse Stadium today.
Galway, already hammered by Dublin in the opening NHL Division One fixture, were soundly beaten by the All-Ireland champions in front of their underwhelmed home support.
Playing with a strong breeze at their backs, Galway actually edged the first half and led by 0-7 to 0-6 at the interval. But the Tribesmen were unable to cope with the either the conditions in Salthill or their opponents after the break and were blown away by the visitors.
