Galway Arts Festival has appointed Ms Rose Parkinson as its new full-time festival director.
Ms Parkinson, from Kilmallock, Co Limerick, has considerable experience in programming, producing and promoting a wide range of cultural events and productions, including work as artist liaison manager, Dublin Theatre Festival; producer, Bickerstaff Theatre Company; company manager, Olympia Theatre Productions; festival and tour producer, Kilkenny Cat Laughs Festival; and festival co-ordinator with the Cuirt International Festival of Literature.
She has been press officer for the Galway Arts Festival - which is in its 23rd year - for the past four years.
The post of festival director is now a full-time position.
