A 30-year-old Spiddal woman is to be tried at the Central Criminal Court for the murder of a man in Galway city last August.
Maura Thornton, with a former rental address at Upper Salthill, Galway, is charged with the murder of Mayo native Kevin Joyce (59) at an apartment on July 31st last.
Ms Thornton sat between two gardaí with her face in her hands during the brief hearing at Galway District Court.
Det Sgt Tom Molloy gave evidence of serving a book of evidence on the accused moments before the court hearing began.
Judge Mary Fahy sent Ms Thornton forward for trial to the Central Criminal Court, in custody with consent to bail as set by the High Court, and granted free legal aid for the appointment of one junior and one senior counsel to represent her.
A postmortem had found that Mr Joyce had been stabbed.
