The High Court has ruled in favour of a bid by the Gama construction company to prevent publication of a report on an investigation into allegations about the company's treatment of its workers.
The Turkish construction firm was granted a temporary injunction by Judge Peter Kelly to prevent the publication of the Labour Inspectorate report by Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Micheál Martin.
However, Judge Kelly gave the Minister permission to provide the report to five enforcement agencies - the Garda Fraud Squad, the Competition Authority, the Director of Corporate Enforcement, the Garda National Immigration Bureau and the Revenue Commissioners.
Judge Kelly added that he would not place any restrictions on the Labour Inspectorate from continuing its investigations into the company.
He said the temporary injunction would apply until the trial of the action taken by Gama 's Turkish and Irish companies against Minister Micheál Martin.
In a statement released today Gama Endustri said: "Gama is pleased that the important issues raised by it in these proceedings will be subject to an early trial."
"It would be inappropriate to make further comment at this time. The company is satisfied that its position as a good employer will ultimately be upheld," the statement concluded.
