Gardaí in Galway have appealed for information concerning a break-in at the home of 61-year- old Seán Conlon two days before his body was found on a landing inside the house.

Gardaí are also trying to identify the young man whose body was found in a wooded area near Clarinbridge on Sunday.

Foul play has been ruled out by the Garda in relation to both deaths.

The time of the death of Mr Conlon, Ballagh, Bushypark, has been established at between 3.30 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Good Friday.

Gardaí are seeking assistance from anyone who may have noticed people acting suspiciously in the vicinity of his home between those hours.

"His house is near a church, on the main Galway to Moycullen road, and there might have been people attending religious ceremonies who may have noticed something unusual," said a senior Garda spokesman.

The funeral of Mr Conlon, a successful businessman who owned the Cottage Bar in Salthill for two decades up to the early 1990s, takes place in his native Clarinbridge today.

Investigations are continuing in relation to the burglary at his home.

Galway gardaí are also seeking the assistance of the public in identifying the man in his 20s whose body was discovered near the Kilcornan Brothers of Charity Centre by a man walking his dog on Sunday evening.

Despite releasing a detailed description of the man, who wore a distinctive gold necklace and ear-ring, they have received no reports of a missing person who matches his description.

Gardaí at Mill Street station can be telephoned 091-538000.
