A 28-year-old garda has been suspended from duty after he was arrested as part of an investigation that led to the seizure of a quantity of drugs from a house in Drogheda.
The garda, who has seven years service, had been stationed in north Co Dublin and was arrested in a house in Lusk at 9 p.m. on Friday.
He was taken to Drogheda Garda station where he was detained under the Drug Trafficking Act. He was released without charge on Saturday evening.
The Garda Press Office said yesterday the investigation was ongoing.
It is understood that 13,000 ecstasy tablets, cocaine and amphetamines were recovered from a flat in Drogheda on Friday afternoon.
The garda was arrested as part of a follow-up operation to that seizure.
One man was arrested in the raid on the flat and on Friday night a 32-year-old Drogheda man appeared before a special sitting of Ardee District Court charged with possession of ecstasy for sale or supply to others.
