A teenage girl told a Circuit Court trial yesterday how her uncle-in-law, a garda, began sexually assaulting her when she was around 10 years old. The accused, who is originally from Co Waterford and is the girl's godfather, yesterday pleaded not guilty at Waterford Circuit Court to 11 counts of sexual assault against the alleged victim.
The offences are alleged to have occurred on dates unknown between October 1st, 1994, and August 31st, 1997.
