Gardaí in Limerick have opened a murder investigation into the death of a man whose body was found at a house in the city this morning.
The man, named as Patrick Coleman (33) was found at a house in the John Carew Park area at around 1.15am.
It is thought Mr Coleman was assaulted on his way home last night. Mr Coleman, originally from Kildare, had moved to Limerick a year ago.
Gardaí upgraded the status of their investigation following a preliminary examination of the body at the scene.
Speaking at a press conference in Limerick this afternoon, Supt Frank O' Brien said the victim died "as a result of a violent act."
Two youths, aged 15 and 16, presented themselves in the company of their parents at Roxboro Road garda station yesterday afternoon and are helping gardai with their inquiries.
State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy is carrying out a full post mortem at the Mid Western Regional Hospital this evening.
Gardaí have called on anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area after 9pm last night to contact them.
