Gardaí have arrested three men in Dublin city centre who they believe were about to rob a security van.

The men were arrested in a "planned operation" at 2.30 p.m. as a security van was delivering and collecting cash at a car park on Cathal Brugha Street, a Garda spokesman said.

The three - all in their twenties - are being questioned in nearby Store Street Garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

Offiers confiscated two guns during the operation.
