Lawyers acting for a Co Donegal man who is seeking to have quashed his conviction for allowing the sale of drugs at a disco are to be provided with Garda documents considered relevant to his appeal, the Court of Criminal Appeal was told yesterday.

Mr Francis B. Shortt (65), manager of Point Inn, Quigley's Point, near Muff, was jailed in March 1995 for three years and fined £10,000 for allowing the sale of illegal drugs, including ecstasy, at the disco. He has since served his sentence.

An appeal against conviction is now being taken to the Court of Criminal Appeal under the Criminal Procedure Act, 1993, claiming there was a miscarriage of justice.

The case was adjourned to October 8th.
