Up to 150 armed detectives from several Garda divisions have carried out raids on houses and business premises across Dublin, Louth and Meath in an operation directed at organised crime gangs.
The searches, co-ordinated by the Garda national support services based at Harcourt Square in Dublin from early this morning, involved personnel from the Emergency Response Unit, the Organised Crime Unit and the Criminal Assets Bureau.
Some 23 premises and houses were searched and a number of mobile phones and documentation were seized.
Most of the searches took place in the Greater Dublin area, with one in Louth and one in Meath.
“These targeted searches are part of An Garda Síochána’s ongoing enforcement of the legislation relating to organised crime and our continuing investigations into the activities of organised criminal groups,” Deputy Commissioner Martin Callinan said.
There were no arrests in the operation, a Garda spokeswoman said.
