Garda suspended over 'selling uniforms'

A Dublin-based garda who allegedly stole garda uniforms and sold them to a film and theatre production company has been suspended from duty, it emerged today.

The officer, who is based at Pearse Street Garda Station, was arrested on Monday and taken for questioning to Kilmainham Garda Station.

A Garda spokesman confirmed the garda was under investigation for the offence.

"A file has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions," he said.

The garda, who has 25 years experience in the force, is suspected of stealing up to 50 uniforms over a number of years.
