Gardaí and local politicians from Limerick City are meeting tonight with the main topic for discussion at the meeting being the recent gangland activity in the city.
Senior Limerick gardaí Chief Superintendent Gerry Kelly and Superintendent Willie Keane are meeting with Limerick Lord Mayor John Cronin and local city councillors at City Hall.
While the meeting is an annual event to brief politicians about crime related topics in the city, it is expected that the meeting will focus mainly on the ongoing investigation into the gangland murder of Kieran Keane and the alleged abduction of the Ryan brothers, Kieran and Eddie.
Mr Keane, who was shot dead last month, was one of the city's biggest drug-dealers and it is believed his murder and the abduction of the Ryan brothers is a result of family between the Keane and Ryan families.
It is believed that Mr Keane played an active part in the murder of the Ryans' father, Eddie Ryan snr, during a gun attack in a Limerick bar in November 2000.
