Gardaí in Swords, Co Dublin, made a fresh appeal last night for witnesses to a sexual assault on two young girls in the area last month.

The two girls, aged four and six, were assaulted at Cherry Park on Saturday, November 18th, and the attacker is described by gardaí as being aged 20 to 30.

"He has short brown hair, a distinct pointed nose and was unshaven. He wore a dark pinstriped suit with a white shirt and black shoes. He may have had a Dublin accent," a Garda statement said.

Gardaí would like to interview all taxi drivers who were in the Cherry Park, Boroimhe, Ridgewood or Rivervally areas between 4pm and 6pm on that date, especially those who saw anyone suspicious or who picked up a fare near the Cherry Park area between 5pm and 6pm.

They also want to talk to a number of witnesses who described seeing a man standing at the 41 bus stop on Rathingle Road (also known as Rivervalley Road) for some time between 4pm and 6pm.

Gardaí also want to speak to an unidentified woman who was standing at the same bus stop. Witnesses do not believe she and the man were together.

A man wearing a yellow fluorescent jacket is also sought by gardaí, who asked that he come forward as he may have information to offer.

Another witness described seeing a small, dark car parked "dangerously" near the entry to Cherry Park at the time of the assault. Gardaí would like to speak to the driver of that car.

They also asked that anyone in the area between 4pm and 6pm on the day of the alleged assault, who has not yet been interviewed and who may have seen something suspicious, to contact them.

An incident room has been set up in Swords Garda station and anyone with information is asked to contact gardaí at 01 6664700 or the Garda Confidential Line at 1 800 666 111.
