Gardaí have arrested fourteen people today as anti-capitalism protesters took to the streets of Dublin.

Gardaí have arrested fourteen people today as anti-capitalism protesters took to the streets of Dublin.

The demonstrators were detained for public order offences after more than 300 people took part in the Bank Holiday protest.

There were no injuries or major disturbances during the protest according to gardaí.

She said: "The protest has been going on during the day and has involved anti-capitalist, anti-globalisation and environmental groups.

"There has been no rioting, damage or major disturbances, but there were 14 arrests for public order offences.

"Some protesters were breaking away from the main protest and attempting to block roads," she said.

The fourteen are being held in Pearse Street Garda Station.
