A total of 37 people have been arrested in a major Garda operation against criminal drug gangs in west Dublin.
Cocaine and heroin was seized during "Operation Reagent", which officers say has dismantled two significant drug distributing networks in Ballyfermot and Neilstown.
Gardaí said the 37 - 36 men and one woman aged from 21 to 48 - were arrested during the searches. More than 60 charges have already been preferred against those arrested in the raids.
All 37 have been charged and released on bail to appear at a number of courts. Ten will appear at the Criminal Courts of Justice, Parkgate Street, on September 6th; 26 will appear in Blanchardstown court on September 2nd; while another will appear in Blanchardstown on September 8th.
A Garda spokesman said drugs units at Ronanstown and Ballyfermot worked closely with members of the Garda National Drugs Unit (GNDU) to gather enough evidence to secure each case.
“The focus of this operation has been to gather evidence against significant drug dealers in local communities and ensure these persons are brought before the courts,” he added.
Elsewhere, cocaine with an estimated street value of €400,000 was seized by gardaí in Dublin city when a car was stopped at Cornmarket Place shortly before 1pm.
A 42-year-old man was arrested and is being questioned by detectives at Pearse Street Garda Station under Section 2 Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking Act) 1996.
Drug paraphernalia was recovered during a follow-up search in a nearby lock-up facility.
