A murder inquiry has begun in Dublin into the death of a man who received stab wounds after a fight broke out in a flats complex.
The man was stabbed a short way from his flat in Fatima Mansions on the south side of the capital.
Another man was injured in the incident.
Last night gardaí said they were following a definite line of inquiry.
The investigation was being treated as a murder inquiry at this stage, he said.
The stabbing happened after the row began outside one of the blocks of flats in Fatima Mansions on Monday night.
Three men are believed to have been involved in the fight which started at about 10.30 p.m.
A spokesman from the Garda Press Office said last night there had been no arrests in connection with the incident.
But he confirmed that gardai were following a definite line of inquiry.
The man who died was named yesterday as Mr Douglas McManus, aged 35, with an address at Fatima Mansions.
An ambulance and gardaí were called to the scene which was preserved for forensic examination.
Mr McManus was taken to St James's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The gardaí awaited the completion of a post-mortem examination which was carried out in the late afternoon by the Deputy State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy.
The Garda spokesman said the post-mortem results would not be released for operational reasons.
A second man received injuries in the incident and was also taken to St James's Hospital.
However, his condition is not believed to be serious.
The Garda spokesman said it was unlikely he would remain in hospital.
The investigation into the death of Mr McManus is being conducted by the detective unit at Kevin Street Garda Station, the spokesman added.
