Judgment has been reserved in a High Court action in which 28 gardai are claiming the payment of a travel time allowance between Harcourt Square Garda station and Dublin Castle.

The gardai, who are required to perform technical duties in the operation and supervision of the Garda Telecommunications Network, are seeking a declaration that they are entitled to an overtime payment for the travel involved.

They claim that since February 1989 they have been directed to work from Harcourt Square Garda station, which has become their permanent station. The Garda Commissioner has denied their claims.
