Garda searches continued in a mountainous area on the outskirts of Tralee in Co Kerry yesterday following the discovery of a quantity of ammunition on Sunday. Between 1,500 and 2,000 rounds of ammunition, believed to be for Kalashnikov rifles, were found during a search of an area at Upper Tonevane outside Blennerville.
The ammunition was stored in wooden crates which were hidden in gorse a short distance from a public area.
