Gardaí deny they have received a toxicology report on the body of a dead man connected with their investigation into a Co Kildare-based nurse.

A post-mortem was carried on the man's exhumed remains in July of this year as part of an investigation into a nurse at Naas General Hospital, who is alleged to have over-prescribed medicines to elderly patients.

A Garda spokesman told ireland.comtoday: "We have not received the report and we do not expect it for some weeks."

The man, who was in his seventies, is understood to be one of three cases - two of which resulted in death - that the gardaí are investigating.
