The Garda Technical Bureau in Cork are examining a burnt-out car that fits the description of a car reported at a murder scene on Saturday night.

A Garda spokesman said the car was found at Waterfall yesterday, close to the Ballincollig area of Cork where Eric Cummins (29) was shot dead after returning home with his partner and 18-month-old son.

Reports suggested the killer was waiting near the man's house for some time before the victim arrived home.

More than 40 gardaí from Gurranabraher and Anglesea Street are involved in the investigation, and the house and surrounding area remain cordoned off today.
