Gardaí are looking to speak to a number of taxi drivers who may have information relating to the murder of Wayne Doherty in west Dublin earlier this year.

Mr Doherty was shot dead outside a friend's house in Oakview Way in Hartstown, west Dublin at 11.30pm on Saturday, July 4th.

Gardai today asked people, particularly taxi drivers, who were in the Dublin 15 area between 11.30pm and 4.30am on the night of the murder to contact them.

They believe that the attack may have been related to an altercation between two men in a pub in Clonee earlier that day. One of the men involved in the row is reported to have phoned Mr Doherty to ask him for protection from an attack on his home which he believed was imminent.

Later a car pulled up on the road where the man involved and Mr Doherty lived.
