Garda detectives in Dublin were today investigating two violent deaths in the city centre in as many days.

Gardaí from Kilmainham are investigating the circumstances of the death of a woman(59) whose body was discovered in an apartment in Inchicore last night.

The woman's body was discovered at an address in Hampton Court shortly before 9pm last night, it is believed she was stabbed.

A man(57) has been arrested in connection with the incident. A post mortem examination is due to carried out today.

Meanwhile gardaí from Fitzgibbon Street are investigating the circumstances of the death of a 62-year-old man in his home at St Georges Place, in the city centre.

Gardaí went to the man's address on Thursday after neighbours expressed concern that he had not been seen that day.

He was discovered in his bedroom and taken to Dublin City Morgue where a post mortem was carried out yesterday. It is believed he had sustained injuries to the throat.
