Gardai in Cork are investigating a drive-by shooting in the city, which led to a man being hospitalised with serious stomach injuries.
Mr Teddy Nagle (25) was shot in the lower abdomen as he was leaving a friend's house in Pearse Road, Ballyphehane, Cork, at 8.45 p.m on Wednesday.
Three men in their 20s armed with a shotgun fled the scene in a gold Fiat Punto car and headed in the direction of the Lough.
A garda spokesperson said yesterday the motive for the attack is unclear.
However, the victim's father, Mr Billy Nagle, said his son was not involved in the drugs scene in the city. "We are not sure what it was but it is definitely not drugs- related on Teddy's behalf. He just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time." Mr Nagle said his son was lucky to be alive.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the assault to contact their local Garda station or Togher station at 021 4962611.
In particular, they are looking for information on the whereabouts of the Gold Fiat Punto which was used to leave the scene of the assault.
