Gardai have launched an investigation into a fire at a church in Stillorgan, Dublin this morning.
Six units of Dublin Fire Brigade were called to The Old Church on the Lower Kilmacud Road shortly before 8am this morning.
The church houses the Top Drawer furniture store, a fruit and vegetable shop and the Kilmacud Scout Den.
It took four hours to bring the blaze under control. The interior of the church, the roof and windows were extensively damaged.
It is understood the fire started in the furniture shop on the top floor and spread to the fruit and vegetable shop below. Both businesses remain closed. Traffic in the area was severely disrupted for a number of hours.
The part of the building housing the scout den was undamaged.
A spokesman for the fire brigade said no-one was injured in the blaze. The scene has been cordoned off pending a technical examination.
