Gardai investigate fire in Co Kerry

Killorglin blaze started in commercial unit

A street in Killorglin, Co Kerry remains closed off following a fire in the early hours of the morning.

The blaze broke out at a commercial unit with apartments overhead on Langford Street around 4 am.

The fire spread to three or four adjoining units. Six fire brigade units from Killorglin, Killarney and Tralee were sent to the scene where it’s understood the fire has being brought under control.

There are no reports of injuries and those living in the building managed to escape before emergency services arrived.

Killarney gardaí and Kerry County Council say Langford Street is closed to traffic and diversions are in place.

An investigation is underway to establish what caused the fire.
