Gardaí in Limerick are investigating a shooting today in the Ballinacurra Weston area of the city.
At about 4pm, several shots were fired at a man in his early 40s on Hyde Avenue, hitting him in the leg. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
According to gardaí, a green car was used in the attack, although it is not yet clear if the shots were fired from the car or if the gunman stepped from it.
A car was found a short time later burned out in Rhebogue. Garda technical teams are to carry out forensic examinations of both the car and the Hyde Park area and gardai said investigations were ongoing.

The victim is being treated at the Mid Western Regional Hospital Dooradoyle.
