A 60-year-old man in Waterford City found dead in a flat at Henrietta Street on Friday night was named this evening as unemployed chef James Purcell from South Parade in the city.

Detectives are currently briefing the victim's family members on their investigation.

"The ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man's death continues," a garda spokesman added.
