Gardaí in Westmeath are investigating a robbery on a fast food outlet in which a safe was removed.
At approximately 1.30am, "five to six" raiders, all wearing balaclavas and armed with baseball bats, entered Supermacs on Main Street in Moate.
They locked staff into a room before making off with a safe that contained an undisclosed amount of money.
Gardaí believe a trailer may have been used to carry the safe but no description of a vehicle or the direction it made off in is available.
